About the artist

Diana León / Visual Artist / Jewelry designer / Gemologist in progress.

Diana is a Mexican artist currently based in the City of Roses, Portland, Oregon, USA.

She explores her creativity through the use of metals and precious stones, seeking to elevate the senses through meticulous attention to detail and the quality of her pieces. Her main motivation during the creative process is to forge an intimate bond between the wearer and the piece itself, one filled with symbolism and personal meaning.

Her primary interests and inspirations include romanticism in nature, femme fatales and powerful female figures throughout history, the Art Nouveau and surrealism style.

Diana holds a degree in Visual Arts (2010–2015) from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in Monterrey, Mex. She also studied Fashion Design and the Textile Industry (2008–2009) at Universidad del Valle de México, Campus Guadalajara (UVM), and Jewelry Design and Manufacturing (2018–2019). Additionally, she earned certifications in Gemology with a specialty in Diamonds from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), including:

       - Jewelry Applied Professional (2020)

       - Pearls (2022)

       - Diamonds and Diamond Grading (2023)

The name Retórica emerged from the idea of a strong, feminine sound, rooted in language theory and applied here to visual theory. Jewelry, as an object, has historically carried a feminine connotation, often given as a gift, but it also serves as a powerful tool of empowerment and expression.
